Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
This policy explains what Kin collects, why, who it is shared with, and what you can do about it. It covers the iPhone app "Kin: AI Boyfriend" and this website.
The short version
- Kin does not sell what you write and does not use it for ads. There is no advertising and no tracking in the app.
- Your messages, your profile and what the characters remember about you are used only to make Kin work.
- Every character is AI. To write his replies, check messages for safety and run voice calls, Kin sends what you write to AI services run by other companies. The app tells you this and asks you to agree before anything is sent.
- You can see, change and remove what the characters remember, and you can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app at any time.
- Kin is only for people aged 18 or over.
1. Who we are
"Kin", "we" and "us" mean the developer and operator of the Kin app. You can reach us at care@kinboyfriend.life.
2. What we collect
What you give us
- Your conversations. The messages you send to the characters, the gifts you send, and the characters' replies.
- Your profile. The name you want to be called, how you identify, and what you like to talk about. A character asks for these in your first conversation. You can change them at any time under Profile.
- Memory. Short facts a character remembers from your conversations, such as "Has a dog named Pepper". You can read, edit and remove every one of them under Profile, then Memory.
- Your voice, during a voice call. It is sent live so the character can hear you and answer. Kin does not record calls. The provider that runs our voice calls may keep a text transcript of a call for a limited time.
- An email address, only if you create an account with your email, or if Apple passes one on when you use Sign in with Apple. You can use Kin without creating an account.
- Reports. If you report a message, we receive that message and the reason you give.
- Emails you send us. If you write to support, we keep the conversation so we can help you.
What is created when you use Kin
- An account ID. Kin makes a random one the first time you open the app, so you can use it without signing up. It is kept on your iPhone, in a place that survives deleting and reinstalling the app, and on our server.
- Purchases. Which subscription or diamond pack you bought, when, and whether it is active. Payment is handled by Apple. We never see your card details.
- Your diamond balance and its history: what was added, and what was used for calls and gifts.
- Counts we need to run the service: how many messages you sent today, for the free daily allowance, and how long your calls lasted, for billing.
- Safety records. When the automatic safety check flags a message, we keep a record of whose account it was, whether it was your message or a reply, and the kind of problem. We do not keep the text of a message that broke the rules.
- Technical data. Like any internet service, our servers receive your IP address and basic details of each request, to deliver the app and keep it secure.
What we do not collect
Kin does not collect your location, your contacts, your photos or videos, health data, or your browsing history. It does not use your device's advertising identifier, and it contains no advertising or tracking software.
3. How we use it
- To run Kin: write the characters' replies, remember what you tell them, and carry voice calls.
- To keep Kin safe: check messages against our rules, keep people under 18 out, and stop abuse of the service.
- To handle purchases: turn on Kin Pro, add diamonds, and take diamonds for calls and gifts.
- To answer you when you write to support or report a message.
- To meet legal duties.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not build advertising profiles.
4. AI and automatic checks
- Every character is AI. To write a reply, Kin sends your message, your profile, what the character remembers about you and the recent conversation to AI services run by other companies. On a voice call your voice is sent too, only while the call lasts.
- You are asked first. Before anything is sent to an AI service, the app tells you so and asks you to agree. Kin cannot work without this, because every reply is written by AI. You can take your agreement back at any time by deleting your account (Profile, then Delete Account). Nothing more is sent after that.
- Every message is checked. An automatic safety check reads each message you send and each reply before it is stored or shown. A message of yours that breaks the rules is not stored: a note that it was not sent takes its place.
- Under 18. If a message says, or clearly implies, that you are under 18, the conversation ends and the app closes to you. This check is automatic. If it happens by mistake, write to us and a person will look at it.
- Reports are read by a person.
5. Who we share it with
We share your data only with companies that help us run Kin, and only what each one needs:
- the company that hosts our servers and database;
- AI service providers, which write the replies and run the safety check;
- the provider that runs voice calls;
- the provider that helps us manage subscriptions and purchases;
- Apple, for payments and for Sign in with Apple.
We may also share data if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of Kin, in which case this policy would continue to protect your data.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
6. Where it is processed
Our servers are in the United States. The companies listed above may process data in the United States and in other countries where they operate.
7. How long we keep it
- We keep your conversations, profile, memory and balance until you delete them or delete your account.
- You can delete a single conversation or a single memory at any time. It is removed from our server. A message you reported stays with your report, so it can still be reviewed, until you delete your account.
- When you delete your account, your messages, profile, memory, diamond balance, reports, safety records and sign-in are removed from our systems. Copies in routine backups are overwritten within 30 days.
- Apple and the provider that manages purchases keep their own records of what you bought, as they are required to.
8. Your choices and rights
- See and change your profile: Profile, then Edit.
- See, change or remove what is remembered: Profile, then Memory.
- Delete a conversation: on the Chats tab, swipe the conversation to the left.
- Delete everything: Profile, then Delete Account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel that in your App Store settings.
- Ask us: you can ask for a copy of your data, for a correction, or for deletion by writing to care@kinboyfriend.life. We will answer as soon as we can, and within 45 days.
If you live in California or another state with a privacy law, you have the right to know what we collect, to have it corrected or deleted, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. Someone you authorize may make a request for you; we will check with you first.
9. Sensitive information
Kin is made for gay men, and what you tell a character, including how you identify, can be sensitive. We use it only to make Kin work for you. We never use it for advertising and never sell it.
10. People under 18
Kin is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 is using Kin, the app closes to them. From that screen they can delete their data, or they can write to us and we will delete it.
11. Security
Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections. Each account can read only its own data, and the keys to our AI and voice providers never leave our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect yours and will tell you if something goes wrong that affects you.
12. This website
This website uses no cookies and no analytics. The company that hosts it keeps standard logs of requests, including IP addresses, for security.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If we change what is sent to AI services or what it is used for, the app will tell you and ask you to agree again before it goes on.
14. Contact
