Terms of Service
Last updated: October 5, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Kin for using the iPhone app "Kin: AI Boyfriend" and this website. Please read them. By using Kin you agree to them.
The short version
- You must be 18 or older.
- Every character is AI. He is not a person, and nothing he says is medical, legal or financial advice.
- Kin is romantic and respectful, never sexual. Keep it that way.
- Kin Pro is a subscription that renews until you cancel it in your App Store settings.
- Diamonds are virtual, have no cash value and never expire while you keep your account.
- You can stop at any time and delete your account from inside the app.
1. The agreement
"Kin", "we" and "us" mean the developer and operator of the Kin app. These terms apply together with our Privacy Policy. The app is licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies. If these terms and Apple's agreement say different things about the app, Apple's agreement decides what Apple is responsible for and these terms decide the rest.
2. Who can use Kin
- You must be 18 or older. Kin asks you to confirm this before you start. If you say, or clearly imply, in a conversation that you are under 18, the conversation ends and the app closes to you.
- Kin is made for use in the United States. The help lines it shows, such as 988, are in the United States.
- You may use Kin only for yourself, not on behalf of a business and not to resell it.
3. What Kin is, and is not
- Kin is an AI companion app. Every character is a fictional AI persona. He is labeled "AI" in the app and will say so if you ask.
- A character is not a person. He has no body, cannot meet you, and has no feelings or memories beyond what the app stores for him.
- What a character says is written by AI. It can be wrong, out of date or made up. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial or other professional decisions.
- Kin is not a therapist, a doctor or a crisis service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, call 911, or call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline in the United States.
- Kin is a companion, not a replacement for real relationships or professional support.
4. Your account
- You can use Kin without signing up. The app creates a guest account for you on your iPhone.
- You can create an account with Sign in with Apple or with your email, so your conversations, purchases and diamonds follow you to a new phone. If you stay a guest and lose access to your phone, we may not be able to restore them.
- Keep your phone and your sign-in safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
5. Rules for using Kin
Do not use Kin to:
- write, request or share sexual content, or anything that sexualizes people under 18;
- harass, threaten or promote hatred or violence against anyone;
- plan or encourage anything illegal, or encourage self-harm;
- share someone else's private information without their permission;
- try to get around the safety checks, or to make a character break his rules;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer or resell the app, the characters or their portraits, or use automated tools to send messages;
- interfere with the service or try to access other people's data.
6. Safety checks and what we may do
- Every message you send and every reply is checked automatically against these rules. A message that breaks them is not saved, and the character will steer the conversation elsewhere.
- You can report any message by pressing and holding it. Reports are read by a person.
- If you break these rules, we may remove content, limit what your account can do, or close your account. We will close an account at once when someone says they are under 18.
- If you think we made a mistake, write to care@kinboyfriend.life.
More about this is on the Safety page.
7. The free plan
You can use Kin for free with a daily allowance of messages. Voice calls are not part of the free plan. We may change the size of the free allowance.
8. Kin Pro subscriptions
- Kin Pro is an auto-renewable subscription, sold as Kin Pro Monthly (1 month) and Kin Pro Yearly (1 year). It gives you unlimited messages, voice calls, and a number of diamonds at each renewal. The price and what is included are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings. Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep Kin Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your Kin account does not cancel a subscription.
- "Unlimited" is for one person's normal use. To stop misuse, such as automated sending, we apply a very high daily ceiling.
- If we change the price of a subscription, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask you to agree.
9. Diamonds
- Diamonds are virtual items used inside Kin for voice calls, which use diamonds for each minute, and for gifts. You get them with Kin Pro and can buy them in packs. What things cost in diamonds is shown in the app and may change.
- Diamonds have no cash value. They cannot be exchanged for money, transferred to someone else or used outside Kin.
- Diamonds do not expire while you keep your account. If you delete your account, any diamonds left in it are gone.
- A call ends when your diamonds cannot cover the next minute. A single call can last up to 20 minutes.
10. Purchases and refunds
All purchases are made through Apple and are final, except where the law or Apple's policies say otherwise. Refunds are handled by Apple: you can ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a purchase, we may take back the diamonds or the Kin Pro time that came with it.
11. What you write
What you write stays yours. You give us permission to store it and to process it, including by sending it to the AI services that write the replies and check messages for safety, only so that Kin can work for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for what you write.
12. What belongs to Kin
The app, its design, the characters, their names, personalities, voices and portraits belong to Kin or to those who license them to us. These terms give you a personal right to use the app. They do not give you any ownership of it.
13. Stopping
- You can stop using Kin at any time and delete your account under Profile, then Delete Account. This removes your messages, profile, memory and diamonds. Cancel any subscription separately in your App Store settings.
- We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, or if we must do so by law.
- We may change or stop parts of Kin. If we stop the service altogether, we will tell you in the app beforehand where we can.
14. No guarantees
We work to keep Kin running well, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will always be available, that it will be free of errors, or that what the characters say will be accurate or suitable for any purpose.
15. Limits on our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, Kin is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, that come from using or not being able to use Kin. Our total responsibility to you for any claim about Kin is limited to the amount you paid for Kin in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 US dollars, whichever is more. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top, and if the change is important we will tell you in the app. If you keep using Kin after a change, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, stop using Kin and delete your account.
